Value description
Brno, as a permeable city, offers thanks to its efficiently managed and interconnected transport system, fast and easy movement around the city and its surroundings, regardless of the choice of a particular means of transport. Brno as a permeable city is also an open city. Complexes, public spaces, buildings and means of public transport and access to them are designed so that they do not represent a barrier to movement around the city, hence neither age nor handicap are reasons for limitations to the city residents' movement in Brno.
Contribution to the city
The smooth and fast movement enabled by the permeable city makes it easier for city residents to travel and transport goods, while also reducing travel times. An efficient transport system is built to allow simple interchange between transport means, reducing congestion, shortening journey times. All this brings not only environmental improvements, but also positive economic effects associated with time savings. The permeable city also removes barriers, and by opening closed compounds, creating barrier-free spaces or access improves the conditions of movement for all city residents.
